Step inside Vispring 1927. In 1927, the Vispring factory stood in North London, Willesden. At this point, the individual pocket springs were still being hand-stitched and sewn. In November of that year, Droll Stories (a magazine for the bedding industry) visited the Willesden factory and praised its progressive working conditions. The journalist noted it was “essential to keep labour turnover down to a minimum,” something the firm achieved by creating an ideal working environment. The factory was described as “well-lit” and “healthy,” complete with a staff dining room where “the best foods are served at a minimum price.” Craftsmanship. Care. Commitment to people.
